4 over 3 Blooming Leaf of Mexico |
|
Having returned to weaving after a long absence, I find myself drawn to traditional patterns and natural materials. It is interesting how simple mathematics can produce such a convincing illusion of 3-dimensions--not surprising, I guess, since the first practical idea of the computer came from weaving. The pattern in this piece is called: "The Blooming Leaf of Mexico". It is an example of the overshot weaving technique using Churro wool from New Mexico and hand-dyed wool from Lancaster sheep. 2010 Private Collection |
